Overland Camping, BOTE Style
At BOTE we know that it doesn’t get much better than a night under the stars after a long day of exploring. And if you’re anything like us, comfort and portability is just as important as durability when prepping your gear list and mapping out your adventure.
Whether you’ve been camping once or you’re a card carrying Eagle Scout, you know that planning what to pack is just as important as deciding where to go. No matter where you decide to go or how to get to your campsite, there are certain items that will take your experience to the next level. The BOTE fleet of Aero products, including inflatable SUPs and inflatable kayaks, place a special focus on packability and versatility, not just portability, making it easier for you to get your gear to the campsite efficiently and do more with less.
When it comes to overlanding, the journey is half the fun. So as you plan your adventure across one or many wet terrains, our products have been designed to elevate any overland camping experience.
Better with BOTE.
There’s no greater pastime than a road trip. Whether it’s with a group of friends or a solo journey, loading up the car and hitting the open road is one of the best ways to see the world. And for those of us looking for a truly unique, off-the-grid experience, there is overlanding.
Overlanding is a combination of off-roading and camping that is a fairly new phenomenon to adventure travelers in America. The climate and terrain can vary greatly, which makes your BOTE gear the ideal travel companion for your next overlanding adventure.
When you’re packing up in preparation to spend several days off the grid you want to make sure your gear can not only withstand the elements, but also serves a specific purpose and doesn’t take up too much space. Choosing the right gear can be the difference between a good adventure and a great one.
What to pack for Overland Camping
A SUP Board that does more.
If you know you’ll be heading in the direction of water, whether it’s a mountain lake or along a river bank, BOTE’s inflatable SUP boards and kayaks are the perfect companion. What makes them the perfect companion, you ask? They’re compact, durable, and full featured. Not to mention, when you’re done stand up paddling for the day, a slightly deflated inflatable SUP makes for the perfect sleeping pad.
It’s a seat, it’s a cooler, it’s a KULA.
We know better than most that after a multi-day adventure on and off the water there’s no better way to unwind than hanging around the bonfire with an ice cold beer. Our KULA coolers combine the best of what a cooler has to offer and adds everything it’s been missing. The KULA cooler is a tool for your life. Use it as a cooler, seat, bait well, rod holder, cast net holder, equipment storage, or just about anything that you can do with a five-gallon bucket. Not to mention it pairs perfectly with any BOTE board and is guaranteed to keep the ice cold until the cows come home. Oh, and did we mention it’s gator proof? Kind of like bear proof, but better.
The KULA cooler is a tool for your life.
Keep it Comfortable with Inflatable Seating.
When it comes to long road trips deep into the backcountry we usually assume the first sacrifice we make will be comfort. While we’re more than willing to sacrifice the comforts of our everyday life we believe there’s no need to sacrifice comfort around the campfire. Enter the Aero Chair. In keeping with the tradition of durability, convenience, and portability, the Aero Inflatable seating series, brings world-class comfort to the outdoors. It inflates within seconds by way of our foot pump, and when deflated, it rolls up to fit in the smallest of spaces. For max relaxation don’t forget to grab the Aero Cup holder designed to fit everything from a slim can up to a 32 oz tumbler.
Traveling with friends? Be sure to check out the Aero Couch. Big enough for two! Just like the Aero Chair and Aero Chair XL, the Aero Couch shrinks down into a compact, easy to store, easy to carry size. Perfect for your next overlanding adventure trip.
Overland Camping, Redefined
Maybe you don’t have access to the type of vehicle required for overlanding or it’s just not your style, but you’re still looking for a truly unique, off-the-grid camping experience. And if you live in Florida like us, then you know that most islands or keys are privately owned. Your options are limited to public islands ripe with the miserable mosquitoes, no see ums, and extreme heat. If this doesn’t sound remotely appealing then how about camping on the water?
You’re Going to need a Floating Dock.
Our friend, @BA_Fishing_, shows us how she used the BOTE Dock 10 to create her own private island in the Florida Keys. Made using the same military-grade PVC in all of our Aero products and designed to be rolled up to easily transport, the BOTE Dock is the perfect packable island. The Dock 10 is large enough to fit five Aero chairs comfortably, three KULAs, two dogs, and has tie downs built into the platform to tie up your SUP board or, in this case, your SeaDoo.
If the ocean is too far from your front door, primitive camping on a nearby lake works just the same. It's highly stable, incredibly durable construction makes the BOTE dock one of the most versatile products we make. Like all BOTE Aero products, the BOTE Dock is extremely easy to deflate and pack up when it’s time to head back to reality.
Don’t Forget Your Day Pack

By focusing on creating products that are versatile, durable, and easy to carry and store, the hardest decision you have to make is where to set up camp. When it’s time to head back home breaking down camp is a cinch. Deflate, rinse, and wipe down the gear, and all of your Aero products roll back up into their designated travel bags. Store your Aero products on the shelf so they’re in great shape for next time without having to worry about your gear deteriorating or rusting before your next adventure.
